Zucchini flowers both male and female flowers can be used as food, but usually only male flowers are collected.

Flowers are a perishable product and are rarely on sale. Freshly picked flowers are recommended to be kept in a vase with water as a bouquet before cooking . Before cooking, the flowers should be freed from the stems and green leaves at the base of the flower. For female flowers, remove the pistil, which has a bitter taste .
