The English School of Kyrenia

The English School of Kyrenia (ESK) is a purpose-built modern day and boarding school offering exciting opportunities for academic excellence and personal development for boys and girls aged 3 to 18.
The English School of Kyrenia is a selective coeducational school of 730 students aged 3-16 (increasing to 18). It is expanding within a new purpose built school building in September. The sections of the school are Early Years (Nursery age 3 and Reception age 4), Primary (Year 1 age 5 to Year 6 age 11) and Secondary (Year 7 age 12 to Year 13 age 18).
In the Early Years section the curriculum is taught mainly in English with additional Turkish language classes.
In the Primary section all students are expected to become bilingual (English/Turkish) so that, whilst most of the curriculum is based on the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) taught by certified English native speaker teachers, Turkish Language and Social Studies are taught by bilingual teachers.
For the 2011-12 academic year, the Secondary section consists of Years 7 to 11 with programmes leading to the IGCSE. Students will then follow on to anticipated IB qualifications with the opening of ESK’s sixth form (Year 12) in September 2012.
