Weather officials issue heat advisory for Saturday afternoon over parts of the island
A yellow warning is in effect on Saturday afternoon due to extreme high temperatures in the interior of the island expected to reach 40 degrees.
A warm air front is affecting the area, with weather officials isuing a yellow warning for Saturday afternoon effective from 1pm until 4:30pm, citing “extreme high temperature” expected to rise to around 40° degrees Celsius inland.
Saturday skies will be mostly clear in the early part of the day while increasing clouds are expected to appear over local area in the afternoon, mainly in parts of the interior and in the mountains.
Maximum highs are expected to reach 40° degrees Celsius inland, around 32 in the north and out west, 35 in the rest of the coastal regions, while it will be 30 up in the mountains.
Evening weather is expected to remain mostly clear, with minimum lows registering up to 25 degrees in the interior as well as east and south, around 23 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 19 up in the mountains.
Sunday skies, as well as Monday and Tuesday, will be mostly clear throughout the day while increasing clouds are also expected to appear in the afternoon, mainly inland and in the mountains.
Temperature is not expected to change noticeably in the next few days, with levels in the interior and in the mountains remaining above the normal averages for this time of the year.
