Cyprus back on hot weather alert

A yellow warning has been issued for Friday due to high temperatures in the interior of the island expected to reach 40 degrees, while afternoon rain is expected in the mountains.

Weather officials say a warm air front continues to affect Cyprus, with a heat advisory going into effect Friday from 11am until 4pm, citing “extreme high temperature” expected to rise to around 40° degrees Celsius inland.

Weekend weather will be mostly clear in the early parts of the day with increasing clouds in the afternoon, with low chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms over local areas mainly in the mountains.

A similar weather pattern is expected for Monday with temperatures just slightly above normal averages for this time of the year, while a slight gradual drop could take place on Sunday and Monday.
