The Lusignan House museum in Nicosia has been re-opened after refurbishment and rearrangement of the exhibits.
Attending the opening were President Mustafa Akıncı, Minister of Tourism Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, North Nicosia Mayor Mehmet Harmancı, UBP Deputy Secretary General Ahmet Savaşan, the 23rdGrand Master Odon de Pins of the Knights of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and the 29th Majesty of the Knights of Rhodes. De Pins grandson Sir François de Pins also participated.
At the event, Zekai Altan, a menu in which the cuisine was interpreted from the Middle Ages to the present, was served by the students of the Near East University.
The original building which was built in the 15th century, underwent renovation and repair of the house began in 1995 by the Turkish Cypriot Department of Antiquities and the building was opened in December 1997 as a museum and a cultural centre.
Events held in the house include those aimed at the survival of the traditional art of weaving. In 2013, the building underwent another renovation, which enabled it to be used for formal social events. There is also a café on the premises that serves traditional Cypriot food.
